There is quite a bit of research regarding the science of the polar vortex, but none regarding the dynamics behind its appearance and disappearance much like Arctic sea ice-

The North polar latitude and surrounding areas are presently turning deeper into the dark hemisphere of the Earth as a function of the orbital motion of the Earth while still turning daily. It means the radius between the North pole and the light hemisphere is lengthening due to that surface rotation and there are tangible values attached to that radius which allow contributors here to work out on their own, if they so choose.

It is therefore not just the angle by which solar radiation effects temperatures at Northern latitudes this time of the year, but also the area which is completely devoid of solar radiation as that area expands to its maximum circumference on the December Solstice. The atmosphere (polar vortex) and ocean (Arctic sea ice) are in response to the dynamics of the planet in tandem with variations in the polar vortex from year to year.

Unlike the moon which orbits the Earth while keeping the same face to us, the entire surface of the Earth turns once (excluding daily rotation) to the central Sun every year, therefore it is easy enough to research cause and effect such as the vortex/ice focus of this commentary. It should be exciting because it deals with motions and events that occur over the course of a year rather than dealingand contending with deficient perspectives that lean on many thousands of years or inane trivial notions based on centimetres which distract from more productive and creative research.
